Albany is booming and is a very picturesque coastal holiday destination and city of choice for people looking for a safe haven from the scorching Perth summer heat. The population is fast approaching 40,000 and is even expected to reach 50,000 by 2030.
A new five storey Hilton hotel with 120 rooms recently opened, which is expected to double in size in the next two years. A six storey Seashells Hotel is also planned for Middleton Beach. All this will attract more tourists to the area.
Misery Beach, right here in Albany, was just voted as the best beach in Australia, and of course the National Anzac Centre is an award winning Tourist destination.
The climate is very moderate and makes it a comfortable place to live.
THE ALBANY HOTEL
THE OLDEST PUB IN WA and still in service, originally opened in 1835 as The Horse and Groom Inn, it has a lot of history and still operates as a traditional pub, the only one in town.
The current owners have operated it very successfully for the past five years and wish to retire. They have made many upgrades in that time and the hotel now boasts a large comfortable Sports Lounge with modern TAB where minimal staff are required as it is all automated, and it is the only PUBTAB in town.
Off the sports lounge, which is also used for dining, is a front verandah with alfresco seating and to the rear is a large beer garden with bar, TV’s, and music available.
A smaller, quieter lounge is ideal for functions and can hold up to 50 people.
Upstairs are 11 guest rooms, three with ensuite and three other bathrooms available to the other rooms, together with a verandah and lounge area.
The hotel boasts a very regular client base selling traditional beers, local wines, and excellent counter meals. The hotel is popular with young folk and older alike.
